My Story
I am 58 years.
I have 3 beautiful grown children and 3 years ago I became a grandmother.
Over 12 years ago I started training in the gym with my husband, who has spent the last 40+ years training in gyms, competing in BodyBuilding competitions and representing New Zealand in the Worlds in France coming 4th. He has many years of knowledge, experience and practice in which he has passed onto me through my training over the years. I learn and train in the gym every day.
My goal when I turned 50 was to compete in a BodyBuilding competition myself and build a strong healthy body as I want to have quality of life for as long as possible as I age. I trained so hard, changed my diet and lifestyle and, with the guidance of my husband, achieved my goal. I then went on to compete in 2 more competitions in the next 2 years. I have just finished (April/May 2024) competing in another 5 weeks where I achieved 3 State Titles, 2 National Titles and was awarded the Oceania Masters Pro Card. An accolade I wanted however thought may not be achievable.
3 years ago I decided to become a Personal Trainer so I could fulfill my passion to help others achieve fitness, health and well-being as I had. Hence, I studied the courses required to achieve this. However, you cannot learn 40 years of knowledge and experience from a text book or an online course, you have to live it every day as I have from my husband. This knowledge and experience is invaluable.
At 58 years I have overcome many injuries (2 knee operations, broken wrist, fractured C5, Spondylolisthesis of the spine to name a few) and have learned to adapt my training to strengthen my body working around those injuries.
Gym, training & working hard to achieve my fitness goals is my passion and a passion I want to share with clients who are looking at starting a fitness journey or regaining motivation to get back into the gym once again after an absence. I bring my passion for fitness to my training like no other. This is not a job for me.
I want to guide, inspire and help you achieve fitness, health, well-being and strength for both body and mind. I will give 100% to my clients, however I also expect 100% commitment from my clients as this is the only way we can achieve your goals together.
My way of training is probably different to most. If you want good results that last you have to work hard and be disciplined. It is the same in your everyday life and work, if you want something bad enough you make the time and put in the effort to make it work. I approach training with my clients as an individual and you will learn to listen to your body because there is no point training you as I would someone else, as we are all different and respond in different ways. You will leave the gym feeling pumped and motivated.
The path to health and fitness may challenge you, however if your health is important enough to you, you will invest in effort, time and commitment to achieve good health and fitness. I am an investment in your long-term health and fitness so you can live the life you want, to be able to do the things you love.
